August came and went with the blink of an eye, or so it seems! We squeezed in some fun adventures as the season came to a close, including two camping weekends and a day trip to swim in the Lower Tahquamenon Falls with friends.
(Here’s my last blog post, in case you missed it.)
Of course, lots of visits to the library (including paying a lost book fine, whoooops!) and muffin baking, coffee brewing, and spontaneous hospitality offerings!
There have been prayers shared around the campfire and coffee table, some whispered with worry.
Recently, the kids and I went to an estate sale, and I found a pair of yellow enamel camp mugs, a small pottery crock in the prettiest oatmeal color, and a tiny ceramic duck for my bookshelf. My older boys bought two fishing nets, which they were thrilled to find (and have put to good use)! Also found and bought: a tiny snowglobe with a winter cardinal scene inside. (My daughter said she had to have it!)
I started and finished a book, Theo of Golden by Allen Levi.
I’m already midway through this one: Dust to Dust: Aging Wisely in an Anti-Aging World by Jen Wilkin.
And, I created a makeshift studio in our sunroom for my watercolor painting :) it’s been so fruitful!
Lastly, I wanted to share a way you can be praying for me. I know many of you have shared how I can pray for you (so sacred), so here’s an opportunity for you, if you’d be willing. My physical and mental health has been a challenge these last few years as I’ve been learning how to navigate the unexpected. I haven’t always known how to do this well. For the last year, my body has been trying to get my attention. Please be praying for my upcoming appointments (for answers), including changes we’ve been making at home (for more rest and more peace).
The concept of living an unhurried life is an important practice! I really covet your prayers :)
xx, Maggie

Praise God for prayerful friends. I love you babe.
You’re so faithful! I love you!
Praying for you that you can recharge your multi-faceted battery and feel peace, energy and renewal. Love you Maggie! You are at an extremely busy stage of life, yet your body is feeling like it can’t keep up at times, for sure. God is an amazing Sustainer, and can provide the daily support you need to face the daily challenges. People ask me how I ever was able to raise six kids and I tell them that I don’t know either! That is where I can say that God must have sustained me because it certainly wasn’t always easy!
Thank you, Janet! I would like to be feeling better, and I trust that I will! I just need to be prioritizing rest, and things can continue to fall into place. I imagine you gave your response with a hearty laugh to boot! You have such a great laugh. And I love your easy-going spirit :)
Will be praying for you dear Maggie! You are a blessing and I always look forward to your blogs. Know you will be in my prayers
Sarah, a hundred “thank yous” — truly! xoxo
Praying for you. Raising several kids is not easy on the body and there will come a time for most of us mothers that all those years putting ourselves last actually wasnโt the best thing for our bodies. Iโm 44 now with 4 kids and currently trying to heal physically from some things myself.
Hey FJ ~ it sounds like you can relate to me. I’m sorry. I’ll be praying for your healing as well. I’ll be praying for your family to support you, as well as your friends, and for you to see this time of healing as beneficial for more than just yourself. I’m praying for your mind to be refreshed during this time, and for you to get the rest that you need, somehow, throughout the day AND evening time. xo
Prayers for you Maggie. โYou will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You.โ โ Isaiah 26:3. Help Maggie fix her thoughts on You. Quiet the noise in her mind and give her a deep peace that doesnโt depend on her circumstances.
What a gift to hear from you. I love your prayer. Thank you for taking the time to leave me a verse to meditate on โค๏ธ
