The most wonderful thing happened last week when I was in the middle of finishing up my Gussy work and packing our home for our move across town — Maxwell fell asleep in my arms after I nursed him. So I did what I know best, I held him and whispered a long trail of thanks to Him. Max is getting so big, when I hold him his feet dangle past my hips. He’s a healthy, happy, heartfelt boy… and I love snuggling him as he sleeps. Last week we started sleep training him during the night and at naptime. It’s going so well, but I have to admit… I miss holding him as he slips into dreamland. I think that’s why I held on to that sweet moment last week when he drifted off unexpectedly.
What happens during the unexpected is the fairy dusting of life.
It’s precious and to be cherished.
I had plans to leave early to run a few errands before meeting up with friends, but once Max feel asleep I was more than happy to stay on the couch and snuggle him. Errands can wait; my focus is on the unexpected.

PS. Our move Saturday was a piece of cake, yahoooo! It took us just a few hours to get the truck loaded + unpacked, and after it was emptied the most wonderful thing happened: our friends even helped us unpack for a few hours. OH MY WORD! I told Zack yesterday how blessed we are to have such incredible friends :D My heart is so full and we are settling in nicely. Maxwell is even sleeping through the night, like all through the night. See? Fullness… yes…

That picture of you two is so sweet. So glad you did the right thing and held him instead of waking him to run errands. When I am out shopping I hear so many babies who are crying because they just want a nap and someone is not listening to them. And people wonder why we have so many angry children in this world. Just listen-the signs are there if you just LISTEN to the CHILDREN…… Thank you Mommy

I love church on Sundays for this very reason (and, of course for the obvious reason of learning about my Savior). Our little Guinnyth always takes a nap in our arms at church and it is one of the most precious sights… a baby sleeping.
it amazes me how quickly Max looks like a newborn again when hes asleep… the way he stretches and cuddles up into a ball, it’s so sweet. I am thankful to have those moments with him ♥.
I love those moments too (also much more rare now that our little 5 month old bug sleeps in his crib most of the time). So thankful that the move when well for you!! I’m excited to see your new place unpacked and lived in :)
I was just realizing yesterday how my 8 month old doesn’t really snuggle me anymore! He’s usually still awake when I lay him down for nap/bed and when he’s awake he is so busy exploring the world! I’m glad you were able to sneak in that sweet sleeping baby cuddle time because it is just the best!

awe, I love the baby snuggles too. I feel the same way about my lil guy. He’s “almost” sleeping through the night and so as much as I hate being awakened at 3 am, I try to keep it all in perspective that he won’t be small forever and enjoy this now.

@Bree, I haven’t talked much about the “why” really :) we basically wanted to reevaluate our financial goals, and moving would help us achieve them quicker :D and as a perk, our new apartment is bigger. Such a blessing! xoxo
