{What I Wore // my new green skirt}

There are a couple of really yummy yogurt shops near our apartment and –confession– I’m starting to see a little pattern on the weekends as we’ve been visiting them often ;) Because Zack knows me so well I love when he picks out my yogurt + toppings while I wait outside with Maxwell and his pup [in the sunshine, of course]. I can’t get enough of that big yellow ball in the sky… California does a good job at showing it off.

So, back to my yogurt commentary. Last weekend Zack scored me a delicious combination of Red Velvet and Chocolate with different candy bar toppings. I swear, eating chocolate has been very effective in helping me to lose my pregnancy weight. That, along with chasing Bauer, walking/rocking Maxwell for hours every day + night and eating a lot of fruit…

The weather has been pretty much perfect these days. Sometimes it’s nice enough to be able to wear shorts or a skirt for a few hours in the afternoon. Mornings + evenings are still a bit cool, which I’m still getting used to. I’m a Midwest girl at heart, you know. While we were out on another yogurt run we stopped to snap some pics.

The other week I found myself at Target and helloooooooo, pretty green skirt. Won’t you come home with me? So it did.

Oh, and look at my handsome baby — he’s a blondie some days, a ginger the other days. But, he has BIG blue eyes every day :)

As a new mama, these tank tops are my favorite. They’re really soft, I don’t have to wear a second tank underneath to cover my midsection when nursing, and they have stripes on them. I don’t know what it is about stripes but my closet is just bursting with them! :)

Last week I also painted my nails for the first time since Maxwell was born. Maybe you remember — painting my nails is one of my favorite pastimes [mentioned HERE], aside from talking :) By the way, Maxwell starting cooing and I’m all, YES! Let’s have a conversation, son! Hearing his voice squeak is sooo cute. Having my nails painted is a super easy way to add color to my outfits, too, a goal I talk about HERE.

Stealing baby kisses are the best, right? And would you look at those chubby arms? Ahhh, they are perfect and just what we ordered ;) Look who stole a kiss from me earlier in the day?

Getting dressed each morning has really helped me feel refreshed as a new mama. Some nights are especially long [!] and I actually look forward to a hot shower, a spritz of perfume and my favorite mascara. Now that Max is 8 weeks old we’re getting out even more throughout the week, too, and I want to feel inspired to take on new adventures with him. The first month I kept my focus on feeling comfortable while I healed from my c-section, so it’s been especially fun to wear again my favorite pair of purple skinnies and now this new green skirt.

What’s something new you’ve recently added to your wardrobe? It doesn’t have to be an expensive piece, a new bottle of nail polish or accessory [anything that makes you smile] is fancy enough :)

  1. I love stripes with a bright colour. What a fun skirt. I have a green skirt in a similar shade and it is one of my most worn items.

  2. I also just had a baby, but my little man is just about 5 weeks old. I’m beyond sick of maternity clothes & am ready to be a cute, sexy mama for summer! I just got blonde highlights & a suuuuuper cute maxi skirt from Target. I’m starting to feel like a new woman! PS – I’m also from Michigan – we’ve loved going for walks in the gorgeous weather too :)

  3. You look great! And I love those chunky arms. My granddaughter, Ava, has the chunkiest legs. I hate to see them slim down when she begins pulling up and walking. I enjoy them while I can!

  4. Maxwell is SO adorable. Oh my goodness…those sweet cheeks!!!

I really, really love this green skirt. (That’s why I clicked over from the link up). It really does make you feel great getting dressed in the morning after you have a baby. You look fantastic!

  5. I’ve been doing my hair in an updo….like a high bun or something and trying to wear some comfy/cute skirts….I have some fun denim ones that pair well with my sandals and t’s. Oh boy do I love cream eyeshadow, mascara, and my homemade chapstick!

  6. Thanks for sharing the tanks from Motherhood. I didn’t know they existed. Our little guy just turned 1 month, so I’m looking to update my wardrobe and those look awesome!

  7. I love the colours of your outfit, you look great! i have recently brought some summer gear in particular a nice long flowing summer dress with some matching sandals.

  8. I too love painting my nails and always makes me smile every time I glance down & catch that hint of color – even if I’m all scuzzy in sweats! I am loving my new white bracelet set, it goes with everything and seems to spring & summery at the moment!

  9. I love that last photo! You two are adorable!! And that outfit. I might have to look into those tanks when my second one is born. Thanks for the tip!

  10. I love seeing you with a baby boy. :)

My spring/summer staple has been a black short-sleeved, pleated maternity dress I picked up at Target 2 weeks ago. I think I’ve worn it 10 times since I’ve bought it. I literally LIVE in it…

  11. I have that skirt, also. I love it! But, after I washed it the elastic band – on the inside – got all scrunched up. SO annoying! I am going to try to iron it and see if that keeps it flat.

  12. I have that same skirt. I also have it in a light weight denim with polka dots. My problem is that I find it is a little see through (especially the dotted one). Do you wear a slip with yours? I’m at a loss. Considered wearing shorts underneath, but feel like that might add too much bulk. Just wondering what you do. You look great by the way and Maxwell is adorable!
