{Home Ec :: projects 2, 3, and 5}

{Quietly steps out of the corner…}

Hello. Ummm, I’m here to show you some projects from Home Ec — remember that class? It’s an online 5.5 week class just bursting {literally} with projects. And I’m a little behind. Oh, you weren’t keeping track? Whewwwwwww.

I finally photographed some projects I’ve made, so here they are. If you blogged with your Home Ec projects, link up below!

Project 2 — gift pouch

This project is by far one of my favorites. It has so many purposes — I would even use it as a little garment bag for when we’re traveling.

I love the parallel stitch lines {what is the proper name for this?!} — so pretty & simple.

Project 3 — reusable grocery bag

I can definitely see myself using this bag, but not for groceries ;] It’s toooo pretty! I made a little doily on the front, which I’m now wishing I made in a different print so it stood out more OR made it a little fluffier.

Project 5 — supplies roll-up

NOT my favorite project. First, I don’t have supplies to roll-up, secondly I had a hard time with the instructions. I read, re-read, and re-re-read them and still felt confused. Oh well, this is how I roll{-up}…

I’m working on the round bunting project next — CAN.NOT.WAIT to buy me some felt! Yeow!

What project are you working on?

  1. cute maggie! i really like the gift pouch – so darling! i’m hoping i’ll finalllly be able to start my first home ec project this weekend (napkins). i got some vintage curtains at the thrift store to use for the fabric, it’s so cute.

  2. Ooo, I love the ruffle on your tote bag – I kinda like it’s subtlety. It’s a detail that you discover once you’re up close and personal with the bag.

    Once again, thanks for sharing with us – I always look forward to seeing what you come up with! -emily

  3. I loved the gift pouch as well! I showed my Dad and he said it was too pretty to give away! :) I have not tackled the roll up yet either…mainly because I too don’t really have supplies I need to roll up. I could do my knitting needles like some people have done, but I have cases for them already. Also, haven’t found any oilcloth I like and am scared to work with it! Is that oilcloth you used, or just reg. fabric? Where do you find all your cute fabrics? online? I’m looking for a good source. I don’t have a blog, nor have I photographed any of my projects, or I would share. But it’s fun seeing yours!! ;)

  4. I had the same issue with the roll-up. I think if there are too many words my eyes start to glaze over. I normally just look at the pictures and try to figure it out. Visual learner, much?

    I totally <3 your tote bag. Love the fabric you went with.

  6. Oh, home ec class…
    I wish at that time I didnt take you as a joke or scream everytime the needle got jammed in the flannel pajamas that I had to make for a grade.

    Home Ec actually did teach me to sew…If only I could go back there now.

  7. hi gussy girl!
    love all your projects fellow home ec friend!
    and i’m so with ruthanne on this one, i scroll really fast through all the pics, start sewing and then get stuck and really read the directions, sorta kinda.
    great job!

  8. Where did you get the fabric for your tote? I am making 60’s inspired aprons for a ton of people. One of them is picky… and this would be perfection!!!
