We’ve had some pretty chilly weather here in Minneapolis — chilly like I wore a sweater recently. And I now keep a robe on the side of the bed because BRRRR! we have chilly mornings, too.
{Maybe I just like the idea of being cold? Our last apartment was nothing but hot! hot! hot!}
On Thursday I decided that since the weather was acting like fall, the home would look like fall.
Kinda — I only decorated two rooms. And apparently I like to finish decorating at 4pm {note the time on the clock…}
I’m excited to decorate the mantle for Christmas. Our ruffled Christmas stockings are going to be DARLING hanging up there… hah! :]
Since we recently moved I remember where we put everything. Maybe it’s because we now have a basement for storage, so things like “Christmas Tree” and “Wreath” and “Outdoor Lights” {not to forget about Zack’s tools or the wet/dry vac or…} can now be stored in the basement instead of our bedroom closet or the office closet or under the bed? Nah, I think it’s because we recently moved. Ahem.
So I hungeth the wreath-eth:
But once I hung — or tried to hang it — I remembered our doors are like 4″ thick so the wreath hanger hook thing didn’t fit.
What did this Gussy do?
Why, I skipped myself to The Gussy Room and found me some cute fabric. It wasn’t quite long enough so I sewed the two pieces together, ironed the seam all pretty like, and then looped the wreath around the fabric and nailed it to the top of the door.
I think that’s like, 10 creativity points. Right, Nester?
I love it mucho.
That is one gorgeous fireplace! Very creative with the wreath, I like it better than a wreath hanger:)

I am so jealous of how beautiful your home is! I love the old homes with the gorgeous fireplaces and hardwood…sigh.
I can’t WAIT to decorate for fall! The hubs says I have to wait a bit yet, and I am realizing that most of my decorations usually get “put” in reaching distance of a particular wee one we have now. So, some creative thinking will have to be done on my part as well!
In the meantime I can come here and drool over your beautiful fall decor! Nice!

Very beautiful! Fall is my favorite season! We just finished a late summer project. Our very own clothsline in our backyard. Even though fall is on it’s way i’m going to use this clothsline until the snow starts falling. Can’t wait for laundry this afternoon!
That is genius! And I am totally copying, because I don’t want to put a wreath hanger over our door. Some neighbors have cute pumpkins on their steps, and I am now anxious to get some pumpkins for our porch too!
I’M SO EXCITED WE HAVE A FRONT PORCH! Finally. It has like 6 steps ~ that means I can buy like 10 pumpkins, right? Or maybe 12, one for each side of the step?
So now I think I am going to hang my wreath with a piece of fabric! lol. It’s just so much cuter than acrylic! or maybe I’ll wrap the acrylic…hmm.
It’s hard for me to think about decorating for fall…when we are still have 90 degree weather!! Am I supposed to wait until I need a robe in the mornings?? I hope not…that will be November in Mississippi!

i like the fact that you nailed the wreath to the door. i live in a ghetto apartment and i’m always afraid that if i put up a cool wreath that it will walk away. perhaps i too will nail mine to the door. haha! great idea!!

umm, i LOVE your fireplace. Makes me think of the little apartment my husband and I lived in when we first got married…a great old house turned into apartments. I am also now inspired to decorate for fall!

Girl you should get at least 20 points for not having to go out and buy anything to hang the wreath!!! Not only was that creative but also very economical! haha I love the fireplace and mantle! Fall is my most favorite time of the year!!! The colors and the change in weather…wearing jeans and sweaters and hats and boots and scarves!!!!!
And so is Thanksgiving which in my opinion gets overlooked so much and it’s one of the holidays that is needed most today!!! To be Thankful!!! We are all very blessed and I love getting together with family and reflecting on the past year and all the goodness God has brought to our lives! Oh wow I think I’m ready for fall!!! Thank you!
