An easy way to nurse in public.

When Maxwell was born it wasn’t just the beginning of my first chapter on mamahood, it was also beginning of a new chapter in my family lineage with nursing. There isn’t much history on either side, but with any luck I was (hopefully) forging a new path. I had a great deal of support alongside me, which I paired with a few key nursing products. Nursing is no doubt a personal decision, and I believe it is one each mother needs to make for herself so she can move forward with confidence by her side.

It took me a while to feel comfortable nursing Max in public. Surely everyone was watching me, I thought, but after a lot of cheering from Zack and a few successful sessions I realized hardly anyone was paying attention. Los Angeles is always bustling with people, and I was hardly standing out. We are an active family, spending a portion of all seven days of the week outside together. Learning how to nurse while out & about was a must.

When Natalie was born, I immediately felt like I could navigate mamahood with no problems — but having a few tricks up my sleeve definitely helped. Things like having Max stay in our stroller, making sure he’s had time to run around beforehand, and keeping his tummy full and diaper dry helped me nurse Natalie in public with ease.

She’s been revealing more of her personality with each passing month, and it’s so fun! She is a bit more independent than Max, but just as snuggly and happy. Nursing her in public has been a little more challenging for me though because she doesn’t always like being covered up. She wants to see what big brother is doing, which is why this cover makes nursing in public so darn easy :) This isn’t my first rodeo, and thankfully I’ve developed my reflexes for when she wants to pull it off (or, when I don’t use one at all).

One of the products I like to keep in our diaper bag or stroller is a nursing cover from Covered Goods. They feature an “all four sides covered” product that is multi-use for nursing, the carseat, the shopping cart, or as a cowl/scarf. Talk about simplicity.

And, as if this product couldn’t get any better for me, each cover is hand cut and sewn in Los Angeles! Love that.

  15. What a beautiful style and creation. As a first time expecting Mom the nursing covers from Covered Goods makes me confident and excited to nurse in areas outside of my home. I love the full coverage and versatility.
They are all such beautiful prints but i think I am a sucker for the gray and white stripe. :)

  16. I love all the designs! I noticed there are only 3 to pick from on the website, but I stalk their instagram like a wild woman so I’d probably take any print they’ve ever made :)

  18. I am 13 weeks pregnant currently and have been looking at purchasing one of these since my last pregnancy. A sweet friend of mine uses them and raves about them! Would love to win one though! :)

  20. This nursing cover seems to make nursing I public so much easier! With a 2 month old, and being a first time mom, I’m still “learning the ropes” of nursing in public. Thanks for the opportunity to win something to make it all a little easier!

  21. I’m getting ready to have our second and I’m really unsure of how it’s going to work out trying to nurse her while chasing our toddler around. I never felt comfortable nursing our first in public but I know I’ll have to get use to it. This cover up is just the thing I need.

  22. I am adding this to our “buy for next baby” list right now! What an amazing cover! My favorite is the gray and ivory, although black and ivory is a close second. :)

  24. I love all three! We’re expecting our 4th baby to arrive the end of July, and we don’t know yet if we’re having a boy or girl – so to keep it versatile, I’d probably choose one of the stripe options. LOVE them!

  25. I’m due with my first in September and have been wanting to get one of these covers. They seem to be the best ones out there. (And stylish too!)

  26. I love the gray and white stripe. What a wonderful idea. My son constantly pulls the cover (usually just a blanket) off of me. I feel like I’m always exposing myself!

  27. Love that floral nursing cover! I think I might order one for my friend who is 17 weeks along! :)

  28. It’s been 9 years since our last bundle of joy and I have to say nursing covers have come a long way from the receiving blanket tucked in your bra strap or your patient husband holding it in place for you! This wrap is genius and adorable!

  29. I have heard nothing but GREAT things about the covered goods multi use nursing cover. I am expecting my first child in 6 weeks and would love to have this for her!! : )

  30. Drawn to the black and white striped version, but a floral one would go well with all the stripes I tend to wear. :)

  31. I love the gray and ivory striped! Would love to win this for our daughter who is expecting her first baby!

  32. This style is much more practical than the traditional nursing cover. I would love to win one! The fabric looks so comfy for both Mama and baby!

  33. I, too, am the first on both sides of my family to nurse. It can be frustrating and daunting in the first few weeks but then all of a sudden it just clicks. This nursing cover is adorable!

  34. What a genius design! I’m about to have baby number three and loath my nursing cover because it just causes more problems than it does actually help!

  35. Love that it covers all four sides. That’s something I struggle with, with every other cover I’ve ever tried.

  36. I’ve been eyeing these covers for a while because they look so much nicer than the one I currently have. Baby girl is getting a little too good at lifting it up! I love the grey and white striped cover and how neutral it it – it doesn’t scream, “I’m a nursing cover!”.

  37. I love this idea! My regular store-bought nursing cover worked fine for my first baby, but I’d love to have a full-cover option in case baby #2 is a bit more free-spirited. :)

  38. That grey and white striped cover is my favorite – I wear a lot of grey and jewel tones, and that cover would match everything well.

  39. I’d love to win! What a great versatile nursing cover! Would love to win! Gray & white is too cute!

  42. All the prints are lovely but the floral speaks the most with me. I love that the covers are so multi purpose, I also love that your back stays covered. :)

  43. Thanks for sharing! I’d love to hear more tips for first-time nursing mamas. I’m just starting out and am struggling a bit wth it. I imagine one of the awesome covers would help tremendously!

  44. Love the grey and white. This would be perfect, I never found a cover I liked with my last pregnancy.

  45. I’ve been looking at the covered goods covers. I have a 1mo old and haven’t nursed in public yet! So nervous to do so! I’d love the black and white stripe or the grey and white stripe.

  46. Oooh! I’m having my 3rd baby in less than 2 weeks and I had been thinking I would skip the cover and use a blanket but this looks so nice that I think I might buy one!
