A celebration of 6 months with Maxwell.

It hardly seems possible that Maxwell is 6 months old, but according to the calendar it’s true :) I remember plain as day being nearly 2 weeks past my due date and how *uncomfortable* I felt, even sitting down. But then I see photos, like the one below, and it’s no longer a mystery why I felt so uncomfortable. (Max was nearly 10 lbs. at birth.)

It warmed my heart to look back through these photos of our son. When Max was born I never anticipated needing to have a c-section. I think that was our first experience with tossing schedules out the window. But even though I didn’t anticipate it, it gave me five solid, wonderful weeks of bonding with Max while I healed. I feel so, so grateful for exactly how delivery went :)

Becoming parents is the greatest adventure Zack & I will ever go on. Each morning (or evening — let’s be honest, ha!), is a new set of “what ifs”. I may have a to-do list written out, but ultimately God has the true “to do” list. And really, thank goodness because some days all I know to do is snuggle my son and sing praises for his health. The days can be super hard, but they’re always an adventure.

In six months it feels impossible to remember what life was like without Max. He’s an answered prayer, a bundle of laughter, an expressive child of God.

Six months ago I saw, for the very first time, what love looked like.

    1. @Jenna Lou, I read your post :) congratulations on your pregnancy!!! Probably the one thing that surprised me the most after having a baby was how my mind would change. I felt scattered and uncreative because I was trying to do too much. Praying you are able to give yourself more grace with however and whenever you go back to work.

PS. Don’t complicate it, if you have an item that sells really well, focus on that ;) and hire help now. XO

  1. I may have shared this quote with you before but I’ll do it again just in case.
“There aren’t enough hours in the day to do what you want to do. There ARE enough hours in the day to do what God wants you to do.”
OH MY GOSH I am so happy for you, he’s flippin’ adorable! I look forward to many more Whitley babies joining the army of God!
