Yesterday, I finally accepted that Fall has made it’s way to town, and I brought in my hanging plants from our front porch. I won’t even tell you how many houseplants I have now ;) Hint: it rhymes with “orteen”.
One of Max’s favorite things to do is bake. With the change in outside weather, and because our oven quickly warms our kitchen and living room — really, these rooms are the heart of our home, it’s even more fun now to get out my baking supplies. He loves to help me, and warm baked goods are the perfect compliment to our morning milk/coffee date!
We recently made homemade banana bread, so I thought I would share a recipe passed down from my Aunt Judy and Aunt Laurie. It’s delicious!
WHOLE WHEAT BANANA BREAD:
Ingredients //
- 3 small bananas
- 3/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 beaten eggs
- 1-1/2 cups whole wheat flour
Directions //
Mash bananas, then add honey, butter, baking soda, salt, eggs, and flour (in that order).
Place in greased 9″x5.5″x3″ loaf pan.
Bake at 350* for 60 minutes. Remove from pan at once and cool on wire rack.
This recipe is best served with a cup of hot coffee, a cup of cold milk, and your favorite little person. If you make a crumbly mess together while eating, you earn bonus points ;)
