Yesterday was one of those really beautiful, encouraging days for me as a mama. The sun is shining more frequently and it’s bringing us a lot of warmth to the East side of Michigan. It is NOT easy mothering young children because every day is so different, and no two children are alike. I am reminded often how much I need God to guide me and give me patience to show endless love and encouragement towards my children.
With our new friend back in town, Mister Sunshine, we are all loving the extra playtime outside. And what about all those laughs and squeals? Hearing the sound of my children play is precious. Sprinkles of dirt are making their way inside our kitchen multiple times a day as it’s the first room off our back door, but I’m more than happy to sweep it up. In fact, as I washed my own face at bedtime I noticed a child’s footprint on the bathroom tile. We are quickly entering “evening baths are mandatory!” season here ;)
Midwest friends, isn’t having the seasons change from winter to spring so refreshing??! It’s something I really missed while living in California for 3.5 years, though those were some incredible years. A change in season gives this mama new things to look forward to, even yard work is enjoyable for me because it’s a new way to stretch my mind and muscles after the winter months.
So yesterday afternoon, while out on a walk, we bumped into some friends who live in our neighborhood. They were holding evidence of having visited the ice cream shop which inspired us to make a visit, and before dinner even!
I’m such a fun mama ;)
Once back home we sat down near the driveway to finish our ice cream and Natalie told me, “You’re a big mommy”, and then Max followed up with, “you’re a professional mommy”.
I mean, both are true right??! My almost 33-week baby bump is pretty big (and low). And I do take my mothering job very seriously… I mean, ice cream before dinner, on a night when Zack is working super late, and the sun is SHINING it’s glory upon us? I’m no fool, the professional mommy in me had to say Y-E-S!!!
Mister Sunshine, thank you for warming us up this week!
PS. this weekend we have plans to get our swing set built, and I can’t wait to see how much fun the kids have this summer with it in our backyard :)
I seriously adore this family. Crying dandelion tears of gratitude
Dear Maggie….I was in the hospital and didn’t get to comment on your last blog. Now you have new baby! I am so grateful that you and little guy are OK! I hope you get this note and I wait eagerly to hear from you. Love you sweetie….Grambarb.
