One of my resolutions for this year is to wear MORE COLOR! It has been fun to challenge myself with this. Sometimes I struggle and think “this is too hard”, but then I find a dash of energy + push past those silly thoughts. Today I’m linking up with The Pleated Poppy!

Here I’m wearing one of our new headbands in Candy Ribbon, with a black band. I love the contrast between the colorful stripes + the this shimmery, lite peachy sandstone top {Nordstrom Rack}. I wore a pair of muted linen navy shorts {Target} + flip flops {Old Navy}.

Then last week I wore a super crazy, fun, colorful outfit. I try to plan out my outfits while I’m getting ready in the bathroom each morning, with the goal to have everything figured out by the time I get to our bedroom. I really don’t like picking out outfits, so this seems easier ;)
The entire time I was in the bathroom I talked myself INTO wearing this outfit. Normally I wear a tank over this skirt, but this time I wanted to try wearing the skirt a bit higher with the tank tucked in.
Eeeeek! I felt nervous all morning. But I convinced myself it was a great choice + skipped off to church!
Navy + white chevron skirt, Old Navy. Orange tank, Target. Flower flip flops, Target.
Floral + Mint medium zip pouch, Gussy Sews. Fabric-covered bead necklace, Made by Jewls.
Lite blue shorts {similar}, Target. Floral + Mint medium zip pouch, Gussy Sews.
Same tank + necklace from earlier.

That skirt looks fabulous with the tank tucked in! I have a habit of wearing all my shirts out too. Maybe I should live dangerously and try tucking sometimes. ;-)
Great outfits!

Oh, girl. I’m so glad you shared this post. My wardrobe has been a big cause of distress for me. I’m always drawn to bright colors, funky patterns and statement jewelry, but when it comes time to actually wear them I sort of chicken out. I live in a very rural, very conservative area and I’m always afraid that people will laugh at me. I don’t like to draw attention to myself so I tend to just play it safe.
Lately I’ve just been going for it and wearing what I want rather than what I think will appease others. You know what? I’m having fun! I love finding new ways to pair things up and I feel like my style let’s me share a little piece of my personality on the outside. I still feel like I get sideways glances on occasion, but I feel good and actually get compliments. It’s actually quite liberating.
I can’t remember exactly when I made the shift in my mindset, but I’m pretty sure it was aligned with Soul Detox and letting go of those toxic thoughts. Oh hai, faith in action. :)
Maggie I love the skirt tucked in. I recently started wearing three of my skirts this way too! I’ll admit, I do this in the morninging before going to the office and I always feel like someone is going to say something. Well they do…I’ve gotten compliments every time I’ve dressed up my skirts this way!
That skirt definitely calls for tucking in! I love colour… if anything I probably ought to tone down some of my combinations!
i love your stripey skirt girl! :)
Hi. You’re adorable.
{muah}
Adorable as always! Love all the color! I tend to lean towards black and grey…but it’s funny how much better I feel when I put on some color! And…how many more compliments I get. So…I’m trying to add more color too!!!
xoxoxo
{keep praying}
You look so cute…I love the chevron skirt with the orange top! And I totally know what you mean about taking an outfit risk and just having to force yourself to walk out the door. I do that at work from time to time, but remind myself that I can sit in my private office and hide most of the day if I feel awkward. LOL :)
It looks great tucked in! I remember the first time I tucked my shirt into a skirt.. I felt nervous too haha. But now it’s totally the norm for me.. I actually feel funny leaving it tucked out!
You’ve inspired me to add more color to my wardrobe this year too – just FYI. :)
And I have those same Target flower flip flops. I LOVE them.
I plan on getting a candy ribbon headband! Payday tomorrow, woo!
I love all of these outfits, ESPECIALLY the white/navy skirt with orange top. SUPER cute!
love the outfit. stacey & clint on WNTW says it’s doesn’t have to Match, it just has to Go.
i have a navy blue polka dot sleeveless top & a bright orange 3/4 sweater that i matched together because i loved the orange. i always get compliments on it. from j.crew.
I feel like once I had my son, I always put him first in everything. And I still put him first for 95% of the time but, now that he’s more independent, I do find that when I spend a little time pretty-ing myself up, I feel better during the day and am more productive. I fell into a slump when my son was first born and always wore boring jeans and t-shirts (I still love jeans and t-shirts but I dress it up with accessories or make an effort to do my makeup pretty or add a rockin’ pair of shoes). One thing I felt like I lost was my femininity. I love dresses and skirts but kind of stopped wearing them for a while. In the past months, I made an effort to find dresses and skirts that are practical, pretty, and comfy so I’ll want to wear them everyday. And it’s been going great so far!
you definitely look more colorful. I think that dressing more colorfully will help you have a more colorful life too!
I want to come get dressed out of your closet!
Love the orange tank and light blue shorts together!
Sometimes getting dressed is so hard (even when not pregnant). I definitely think I’d do more bright colors if I wasn’t afraid to stand out! Maybe I can try after this little one is born!
I have the exact same chevron skirt and orange tank packed in my luggage for our honeymoon this weekend. Just hoping I can look that adorable in it!!!
Oh that skirt, is so great! And I love the blue and orange combo on you! Pretty! :)
BOOM. That navy and white skirt is great! You can join me on my invisible yacht (see WIWW post), and we shall sail the seven seas.
Keep up the colorful work!
Love the new head bands, such fun colours and it looks great with the sparkly tank. And I LOVE the chevron skirt and it looks great with the tank tucked in.
Too adorable!!! Love your sparkly top!!
@Alissa, I got it in California when I was visiting for Blog Sugar!

2-i am going to buy that old navy skirt
ok maybe just 2 points! u are adorable.
@Mindy Harris, We all have little flaws, you just can’t see mine :)
And PS. comparing yourself to others only makes you feel worse. Focus on the positive things, like the little people you have in your life + the blessings they are!!!!
PPS. You are adorable!
love these bold colors, Maggie! I thought of you yesterday because I was wearing some pretty bold colors…bright blue & bright pink! ;)
@Jacky {The Sweetest Petunia}, Awww — that’s so awesome! PS. great job ;D
You look so lovely. I like the blue/orange color combo! So pretty!
You look so good in shorts…something that I cannot pull off myself. Love your colors and that you’re stepping out of your comfort zone with colors:)
@Sarah{Handbags*N*Pigtails}, SAYS WHO? :)
I saw that chevron skirt and Old Navy last week and passed it up, but you styled it so well that I think I have to go back for it! Love that outfit. And the colourful headband is great:)
