this little doggie… he is just the best. he’s the best companion, the best little traveler, the best snuggler! both ways, driving to MI and then back to MN for our Christmas vacation, Bauer slept on my lap in the car and hardly made a peep. when it was my turn to drive he would bark ~ i thought it was cute he wanted to be closer to me but Zack didn’t think so, tee hehe! this last month or so Bauer has been my little shadow. maybe that means i need to get out of the house more so he has time to explore outside of his crate? probably ;]
if Bauer’s tail isn’t wagging he’s probably chewing his bone or taking a nap. those are his three favorite things, and they make me happy!
do you have a doggie? tell me something great about him or her.
Oh, I love your puppy! Bauer is incredibly cute and sweet. I truly miss our old dog, Gershwin. We’ve had three golden retrievers and they’ve all been named after musicians starting with the letter “G” (weird, I know), but Gersh was the best! I truly have never met a smarter dog in my life. He would not eat his dinner until you “prayed” with him (something my mom taught him), and he knew three kinds of barking on command. “Speak” was his normal “big boy bark”, “talk about it” meant kind of a “broowww roooww rooow”, and “lassie” gave us a high pitched whining. Seriously…brilliant dog. We had to put my baby down about a month before we got married in 2009 and to this day I miss his cuddling and sweet face. With our own little guy now, I’m sure we’re going to get another puppy as soon as possible…definitely a golden, and then we’ll add a german shepherd and potential a bulldog. For now, I will live vicariously through you and your sweet afternoons with Bauer! :)
oh my word, he knew how to pray?! that is seriously so cute :) we should teach bauer how to do that! and i love all the barking noises, so fun! we’ve taught bauer how to “whisper” — it’s a really quiet bark noise, hehe!
We have a four month old miniature schnauzer named Jackson. He loves to ride in the car too, and when he sees my hubby or I get our shoes on, he knows we’re going out and gets super excited. Can’t imagine life without our little pup. :)
what a cute doggie name!!!
This is awesome! I have two pups, and they are the best because they balance each other out. One is high-strung and the other loves everything and everyone.
Yay for Bauer! Enjoy him each and every day. We have no puppies now. Two of our best were a dachshund named Lady Tiffany and a beagle named Jacob’s Little Annie Rose. Yep. We called her Annie. I got Tiffany for my 14th birthday and she died 11 years later. Jacob’s Annie came to us for his 7th birthday and lived for 11 years, too. Loving, cuddly, sweethearts they were.
Oye…there is a lot of love at our home. We have two doggies, Roxie, my mother’s pomeranian, and Hobbs, my baby in addition to two cats, Zeus and Calvin, and one parrot, Guss Guss (Guss or Gussy for short!). Photos of everyone are up on my blog http://buttonwoodcottage.blogspot.com/2011/11/pet-parade.html.
Calvin and Hobbs (my babies) are the best snugglers! You cannot sit on one of the chairs in front of the fire without Hobbs trying to get on your lap. Of course he can’t jump up on the chair (big barrel chest + stubby legs = no jumping!) so if you aren’t willing to pick him up he’ll sit between your ankles and wait until the guilt forces you to put him on your lap. Calvin (or Puppy Cat as we like to call him) will often sit on top of Hobbs to be in your lap. He doesn’t seem to understand the concept of “this seat is taken.”
hahaha! Hobbs is like, “rude!”
Bauer is so cute!!! I love when you post about him! I have a long haired chihuahua named Pippin. He is my buddy, much like Bauer is to you. He is litter box trained, which is AWESOME in MN during the winter! He knows my work schedule and if I have to work late, he sits on top of the sofa and about 1/2 hr after I should have been home, he cries until I come home. Drives my husband nuts! LOL. I think it’s cute though. He follows me everywhere! :D
oh my gosh i am loving your comment :) i think that’s hilarious and so so cute!!! aww! doggies are the best pals ever!
He is so cute! My pup is a world class snuggler as well, but at the moment her very favourite hobby is laying in front of the heating vent. Having a dog is so awesome and life changing!
You asked!! That is what my husband would say to your question, tell me about your pet… We have two miniature dachshunds and they are my precious babies. Sophie is our 4 year old chocolate and tan lady. She is so proper and sweet, so calm, adores her daddy more than life itself. When she gets on her bed in the den she sits and stares at her daddy till he gets up and covers her with her blankie, then it’s night night time. Lucy is our 2 year old black and tan dapple and she is our clown. She wants to be alpha dog (only when Sophie lets her) and she loves everybody. She is so funny to watch because she is always trying to be the center of attention. We live in the south and it’s warm here and they love laying in the lounge chairs under the umbrella by the pool… what a sight they are!
sooooo sweet! i love that she likes to be covered up with her blankie :)
Your pup is adorable! We have two beagles. One is 11 months old and the other is 3 months old-both from the same mom and dad. Their names are Jeter [Derek] and Willie [Mays]. Jeter, the oldest, is also my lap do on car rides. He is so cute. Willie is more vocal then Jeter. Even when he yawns he lets out a little puppy noise. We. Love. Them.
beagles = love!
Ah, Bauer is so, so, so very adorable! He reminds me of my Mom and Sister’s dogs they both have Schnoodles and they all have same wild fur…My dog is S.A.M {Secret Agent Man} an almost 7 years old Rat Terrier. His favorite thing in the entire world is the toilet paper {or tissues, or cotton balls, or anything similar}. My fiance is trying to persuade him that he should replace the toilet paper with fruits and veggies {that are safe for dogs to eat}, so far he seems to be agreeing, and loves frozen blue berries! He also loves playing football or chuck-it, sleeping next to the radiators, burrowing under the blankets. and of course he loves to ride along in the car {even though we just bought a new car and he has to ride in his kennel in the backseat…} Dogs are so sweet!
oh my gosh i’m dying over the name S.A.M! that is so awesome :) i’ll have to share that with zack! thanks for your comment! xo
What a little cutie! I actually have 4 and boy, they can be a handful. Roxy, Einstein, Mila & Ralph. But I love them all to death and they all have their own little personalities.
So sweet!!
Awe little Bauer, what a cutie!! I have a cute little pup too named Coco, we got her at an animal shelter so I’m not sure what kind she is but that doesn’t really matter anyways! I love her to bits, especially when she secretly winks at me! haha
secret winking? — that so super cute! did you teach her to do that? :)
Bauer is too cute! I follow you on instagram and saw all the adorable pics you were posting of him on your drive from MI to MN. We have a 4 year old puggle mix/mutt named Jack. It was his birthday yesterday! (http://www.twotwenty-one.com/2012/01/our-little-man-is-4-years-old-today.html) I’ve never met a dog with more personality than Jack. We love him to pieces.
AWWW i love your jack! such a sweetie!!!!
Bauer looks like such a lover! My dog, Bogart, a cairn terrier is so funny. He brings us so much laughter! He is always getting himself into silly situations. He makes strange noises and barks at the sight of anything on wheels. He brings so much joy into our families. You should do a “Show us your pooch” link up! I love dogs and love to see others. I think dog lovers are the best kinda people!
oh my, that’s a fantastic idea!!!! :) i’m so doing that soon!
Your dog is adorable. My dog is a yorkie-poo named Lexy. She eats grass but won’t eat vegetables. She climbs ladders and is terribly afraid of loud noises.
My Chihuahua, Tico, was born on Halloween 2010. We are best friends. He loves to sit on my lap and cuddle up next to me every night as we sleep. We go everywhere together during the summer–public trans, outdoor seating cafes & restaurants, outdoor festivals, concerts, movies in the park, or just walking in the park–we are inseparable! Not so much in the winter as it’s so cold but Tico does have sweaters, coats and shoes to keep him warm.
Portland, Oregon is the #1 dog-friendly city in the US so there are lots of places we go to!
…we are moving there!
That’s awesome! I know you’ll enjoy Portland. It’s like NYC in that you don’t even need a car to get around the Portland area since mass transportation is fabulous!
i was joshin ya above, but it does sound like a great city — a lot like Minneapolis in that the bus + train routes are fab! xoxo
Oh! Hahaha! OK, well come and visit PDX sometime! :)
Our dog’s name is Basil (my husband is a chef). She is a 2 year old black Lab, and we just love her so much! We rescued her when she was 10 mths. old. She & our son, who is almost 6, are inseparable. We love it when she falls asleep on her dog bed in the living room, right in front of the fire place, and she’ll start making noises in her sleep. We laugh, my son chuckles and thinks it’s the best thing ever, and we try hard not to wake her up with our laughter.
PS~ Bauer is adorable!!
I CANNOT wait to have a pups!!!!!! I have to convince the husband, though… :/ lol
xoxoxo
having a doggie is the best. and dang those wood floors are gorgeous!!
magglio is so cute! such a fluff ball ;D
Our lab Houston is super sweet. She rarely barks, never goes potty in the house, is super mellow, and snuggles in bed like a human. Head on the pillow and everything. Greatest dog ever. She’s 6 years old now, and I can’t believe how time flies! It seems like yesterday she was a tiny puppy. She listens and rarely talks back and makes me feel better when I’m down. She also rejoices with me in happy times. :-) I couldn’t have asked for a better dog friend.
He is just the cutest! I’m in love with my dogs too, and often refer to Ramon as my first born. Those pups have a super special place in my heart!
Bauer is just an angel! He is so sweet and snuggly looking! I really enjoy reading about him. I have a 1 and 1/2 year old boxer named Cash (short for Cashus Clay…hehe). He is my best buddy. As I am typing this he is dreaming about chasing something and “sleep barking” :) I work from home and I just don’t know what I would do without my little buddy. He has the cutest little wrinkley face! He also thinks he is the size of a yorkie… He is a 70 pound lap dog! He looooves to play tug with his rope and chew on his nylon chewy bone. My husband and I don’t have any children, so he is my baby. He is worse than spoiled :) He always makes a bad day good and is always happy to see me! Everybody needs that! Thanks for sharing about Bauer!
Bauer looks so precious.
My husband and I have had Standard Poodles for many years now, and Rio is the last of 3 still with us.
He’s 12 now (that’s old for a large dog) and he shares his home with our 19 yo cat, Buckey.
Cherish each day with your friend, the days go by fast.
I just subbed to your blog. Looking forward to getting to know you, and to being inspired to dust off the sewing machine again. Hubby (Bob) just retired and I desprately need to sometimes retreat into the sewing room to get away, lol.
Sharon…from the sunny southern California coast.
hi sharon! so glad you stopped by :) and YES! dust off your sewing machine and spend some time with it! xoxo
