It’s Thursday {just one more day until I fly out for Blog Sugar!}… time to be inspired! I’m glad you’re here ~ read on for this week’s prompt and then scroll down to link up your post ;]
THE PROMPT // This week’s prompt is FAMILY ROOM! Growing up, our family room was our most lived-in room of the whole house. Naps, TV {woo hoo! Full House, Growing Pains, the TGIF line-up}, birthday parties, reading, puzzle making, Christmas morning… we did every thing together as a family in the family room. ♥ And I know Zack’s childhood was the same way, which is why I love *our* family room so much.
MY INSPIRATION //
Our family room is a place for gathering, reading, playing, laughing, napping ;]
Zack & I watch movies in our family room. We work in here, talk on the phone in here {hi mom!}, play card games — eat dinner, drink morning coffee. Most afternoons Bauer naps; I work :]
Clearly Bauer loves the couch — hah!
The home we live in was built in 1900. There’s so much character inside each room, with the detailing and 9′ ceilings and stained glass window accents and dark hardwood floors. Zack and I really love this house… When we first moved in it was a little hard to decorate, but with the help of color and lots of blankets & pillows we’ve made it into a cozy home. Honestly, I love it a lot more when it’s a little messy and lived-in.
Most of our furniture was gifted to us from our families. The end tables are from my great aunts {we painted them white}, the couch was my parents when they were first married {we recovered it in this awesome red tweed fabric}, the teal chair in the corner {you can hardly see it} was given to us from Zack’s mom {no you can’t have it}. The bookshelf is from Ikea, the ottoman from Bed Bath & Beyond. Then our accent pieces are either from Ikea, Pier 1 or Target.
Or the pet shop ~ hi little cream doggy bone on the rug.

The room is gorgeous. This is one I would like to see on one of those home parades. We have an older house– I feel so stuck at times from the wood door/window frames. I don’t want to paint them but! The whole look came together so beautifully as if everything was meant to be.
so beautiful and cozy. i love peeking into other people’s houses so i’m off the check out the other links :)
I am in LOVE with all of the woodwork in your house. My house was built in 1918 and unfortunately many of the amazing details were most likely destroyed by the weirdos who owned the house before us. I love living in old homes!
I just found you and I LOVE YOUR BLOG! How much fun are you? Thanks for hosting and I’m a new follower!
hi maury! oh thank you!!!!! :)
I love the character of old homes, especially when hip & stylish families, like yours, add their flare to them!
Oh gosh! Thank you ;)
What a cozy and inviting family room! I love old homes – they have so much character. Your fireplace is beautiful!
i wish it worked ~ how fun would that be?!
thanks for the comment! xoxo
I love that I visited your family room and I have to say, I felt very welcomed there! Our family room is the first room you walk into. I think making it inviting is important. I also keep my serene and simple, because I want people to feel at peace when they sit and share.
