This week’s 7 pretty things post is dedicated to my pretty mama and the things she loves :] Today is her birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!! ♥ and tomorrow morning she is getting up bright & early to drive from Michigan to Minnesota to visit us for the week. Yeow! I am pumped for some Mama Gus time. The weather is finally warming up here in Minneapolis and you better believe I’ve got a fun list already of things I want to do while she is here. Yayyyy! OK, here’s a list of 7 things my mom loves:
My mom and her two besties started a club called the Bad Girls Club. Every summer the three of them get together at my family’s cottage for an entire week and just RELAX! They laugh a lot, tell stories, stay up late, eat breakfast together in their jammies, go to movies/concerts/out to dinner. The week starts out on a Sunday in July and everyone’s family comes to the cottage for the day. Sometime after dinner everyone leaves — minus the 3 Bad Girls, they stay. Two Bad Girls are in Michigan and one is in California, they usually get together a few other times a year in between their week at the cottage.
Their “brand” is the Flip Flop ~ I think it’s perfect. Ya ya!
mmmm. One thing my mom definitely passed down to me is a love for Coca-Cola ~ I love it best when it’s fresh from the fountain, otherwise ice-cold with a straw is just as good ;]
Whenever I see pretty blue eyeshadow I think of my mom :] I remember her wearing it in the mid-’90s when I wasn’t quite 10 years old. Some times I’ll see her wearing it now as an accent color — not like the gals used it {all over the lid. whoa!} — seeing it on her makes me super happy.
Mama Gus looooooves birds! There are so many holidays and birthdays where I bought her something “bird” themed: bird feeders for the house & cottage, candle holders, wire birdies for the front buffet.
There’s no doubt that when I was learning how to sew and thought, Visit the library ~ they’ll have a book or two for me to read, that this thought came to me from my mom. My mom LOVES to read. I always remember small stacks of books that I was constantly dusting around when I was a kid. Reading is such a precious thing, I’m glad that’s something my parents passed along to me.
Hah! I have to share this photo :] When I was a tween I received a Game boy Pocket. I looooved it and one of the games I had was Tetris. I remember being in the car with my parents and telling my mom she wouldn’t understand how to play it, so she asked to try it. Do you know what happened next? I never saw it again. Hah! She loved playing Tetris and since it was small she’d put it in her purse and play it while waiting for me or my brother to get out of practice after school. Actually, she played it so often the buttons wore out and she had to buy me a new one.
Hah — seriously, sooo funny!!! ~ I love you mom, even if you were addicted to Tetris ;]
TARGET! What woman doesn’t love target?! I know we’ll be going a few times this week while she’s here. We have to visit the downtown Target because it’s 2-stories, and maybe a Super Target out in the ‘burbs? I’m excited to browse Target’s aisles with my mom!
♥ ♥ HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM! ♥ ♥

I personally would ask your daughter for a couture market tote!
Happy Birthday to your mom! I got my love of books from my mom, too. Me, and her, and my grandma, and my aunts all trade now.
Tetris! What a great game. My SIL played Tetris on her Nintendo so much on her maternity leave 20 years ago that her husband had to take it away so she would remember to sleep. We just bought her Tetris for the Wii and then stayed up late playing 4 person Tetris. She schooled all of us!
So sweet!! and those books are all by my favorite author Sarah Dessen!
